4 Steps to Buddhism

Updated: Dec 16, 2023

Woman being helped as she challenges herself to climb

I’ve decided to take on the 0, 1, 2, 3 campaign, or as I call it, the 4 steps to Buddhism. This is where for a set period of time, (I’m aiming for three months) I do my best to chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo for one hour, spend 20 mins studying Buddhist material, try to make three people happier and not complain throughout my day. This is not the first time I’ve done this challenge but it will be the first time I’ve properly documented it.

Please join me if you like and share your daily or weekly discoveries on your human revolution journey. A few tips: study doesn’t have to mean reading, you can also listen to audio and making someone happy could be a small or big gesture, whatever the occasion warrants. Also you don’t have to limit yourself, you can chant for longer, study more and make even more people happier. Let’s do this!

It’s been ages since I set up the 3 months challenge and I’ve yet to post an update. So here it is. Three months was hard! My daimoku fluctuated; some days I could easily do an hour, other days I would break it up into 20 mins at a time.

Studying was enjoyable and was what kept me going when I doubted my determinations and had a low life state due to not chanting as much as I used to or felt I needed on a particular day.

Not complaining, well trying to not complain made me more conscious of when others were. I would purposely not engage in conversations that were leading to us moaning but I’d worry that…
